The Cook Charitable Foundation was setup and is controlled by Peter Cook, the president of Mazda Great Lakes and a former director of Michigan National Bank. The Cook Charitable Foundation has made contribution to religious right organizations including Teach Michigan (advocating vouchers), Gospel Films (Gospel International), Focus on the Family, Michigan Family Forum, Campus Crusade, Mackinac Center, and the Acton Institute (Russ Bellant, The Religious Right in Michigan Politics, Americans for Religious Liberty, 1996).
