Ehlers Confronted by Antiwar Protestors at Grand Rapids Event

On Wednesday night, Congressman Vern Ehlers was met on the street by protestors calling for an immediate end to the Iraq War. Ehlers chose not to address the protestors and made no statement about his position on the war.

On Wednesday night, Grand Rapids area Representative Vern Ehlers spoke at a meeting organized by the Freethought Association. Ehlers, who spoke on the topic of faith and politics, was met outside of the meeting by antiwar protestors with ACTIVATE (Grand Rapids SDS). Not surprisingly, Ehlers–who appeared visibly upset by the protestors’ presence–said nothing about the Iraq War and made no comment to the protestors holding signs accusing him of war crimes for his support of an illegal invasion, continued funding of the occupation of Iraq, and his vote in support of torture.

A short video of Ehlers walking through the protestors and getting in his car is viewable below:

Additionally, ACTIVATE distributed leaflets to the meeting attendees explaining why they are calling for an immediate end to the occupation of Iraq.
