Update on CAFTA and Protests in El Salvador

CISPES is reporting that CAFTA is still facing difficulties in El Salvador with both protests and calls for the country to repeal its ratification of CAFTA. A coalition of NGOs called the Red Sinti-Techan presented a bill to the Salvadoran National Assembly last week calling for the Assembly to repeal its ratification of CAFTA. El Salvador was the first country to ratify CAFTA, and as such, the vote was rushed and did not take into account the opinions of the social services sector or the opposition.
